David Stranack
and Jean Parnell have been gathering snippets of village history for
years. More recently members of BASH have compiled an extensive
archive of old pictures of Strete and the surrounding area. It
seemed like a good idea to draw some of this information together so
it would be readily available to the public, and this book is the
result.
It doesn’t
pretend to be a comprehensive history of the village, it is
literally what it says it is – a collection of tales and pictures
from the past.
You can read
about the old lost village of Undercliff, ponder why the village was
called Strete in the first place, and learn about the people and
activities that have been at the heart of Strete for the last
hundred years or so. The village has changed much in that time, and
the book provides a little snapshot of how Strete used to be.
David's book is available for £5.00
if collected or £5.50 posted to any UK address; contact Anne on
